Agropolis International
An AgroVallée project in Montpellier for the first half of 2016
Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the few regions in Europe to have designated agriculture and agrifood as smart specialisation areas (SRI-S3, under the European FEDER 2014-2020 Programme).
The AgroVallée project aims to make Montpellier and its region a seedbed of sustainable Mediterranean and tropical agriculture innovation, a Mediterranean and tropical plant biorefinery leader, and to develop sites to host these initiatives and expertise.
AGROVALLÉE RELIES IN LANGUEDOC- ROUSSILLON REGION ON:
- scientific excellence and a critical mass of research and training (top ranked national agroenvironmental research cluster - source: Strater 2014)
- a dense network of innovation and transfer stakeholders
- exceptional dynamics for collaborative research/business and innovative business creation projects.
OBJECTIVES OF AGROVALLÉE:
AgroVallée offers a single gateway to the regional innovation environment and intends to provide a seamless, comprehensive and coordinated range of services to:
- revitalise research/business collaborations to create tomorrow’s innovations
- accompany regional SMEs in their efforts to sell regionally developed innovations worldwide
- attract investors from outside the region (French and foreign) to kindle job creation.
ROLE OF AGROPOLIS INTERNATIONAL IN THE AGROVALLÉE PROJECT:
The Agropolis International Association is preparing to represent university/research stakeholders in the regional innovation environment, which also involves the business community and regional and local authorities (Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, etc.).
